Prometeo Fiat 500 Abarth 1.4 TJET Engine Oversized Oil Sump

Designed for Abarth cars (500, Grande Punto, Punto Evo) but can be used more generally on all models with a 1.4 turbo engine.

The sump allows for approximately 2 liters more lubricant capacity than the stock one.

The product is configured as a real kit including, in addition to the cup, the internal anti-shake bulkhead, screws, accessories and an attractive aluminium filling cap, which signals to those carrying out maintenance the increased lubricant capacity.

One of the main problems with sports engines is heat. High temperatures cause numerous problems, such as wear on mechanical components, micro-seizures that cause loss of torque, abnormal fuel consumption, and the deterioration of engine oil properties, among others.

For this reason, the manufacturer carefully determines the amount of lubricant required for each engine. However, sometimes you feel the need for a little more, perhaps because you're using the engine a little more on a specific occasion or under specific operating conditions.

In medium-high performance engines the sump capacity
oil capacity varies from 3.5 litres up to 10-12 litres for supercars.
In the specific case of the 500 Abarth and Punto Abarth, this value is at the limit. The Abarth's oil sump is sized for stock power output and therefore may be undersized if greater power is used.
Under these conditions of use, there would be a sharp increase in temperature in a very short time and the oil, unable to cool during its working cycle, would deteriorate very quickly.

In modified vehicles, racing, and supercar engines, the amount of oil is crucial to overcoming the problem of high temperatures. A larger oil pan has the advantage of dissipating a large amount of heat and always ensuring effective lubrication, even during long, high-speed turns or under extreme braking.

The engines of the 500 Abarth, GPA, and Punto-Evo suffer from high temperatures; therefore, the two extra liters of oil guarantee:

1) Less premature deterioration of the lubricant's properties, which also translates into greater mileage between oil changes

2) Greater oil cooling which prevents dangerous engine overheating

3) Better mechanical efficiency

4) Possibility of using a slightly higher viscosity grade; thus, in case of heavy use such as on the track, the oil can better withstand thermal stress, performs better and leaks less through the oil seals.

5) Greater oil cleanliness, thanks to the greater quantity in circulation

6) Continuous oil draft, thanks to the anti-splashing bulkheads

7) Maximum heat exchange with the outside, thanks to the choice of material and the geometry of the cup, characterised by very accentuated fins
